World Menstrual Hygiene Day

FLO Kolkata conducted an outreach initiative dedicated to empowering women through awareness, education, and health support, on the occasion of World Menstrual Day. 300 underprivileged women participated in the event where sanitary napkins and food boxes were distributed as a gesture of care and solidarity. The aim was to provide essentials and create a safe and open space for dialogue around menstruation.

FLO members actively engaged in a session on the myths, taboos, and challenges women face around menstruation, particularly those from lower-income communities. Members also offered practical suggestions on how women could manage their menstrual health more effectively within their means, promoting dignity and self-care.

A social worker conducted a workshop that covered the biological reasons for menstruation, common menstrual issues, and the importance of hygiene. Her session was informative and easy to understand. The chapter organized gynecological tests at the centre, ensuring that the women had access to basic reproductive health check-ups.
