YFLO Ahmedabad, under the leadership of Chairperson Neha Goyal, achieved a milestone moment unfolded in Khodiyar Nagar, Brahmapura, Ahmedabad, with the inauguration of the Sakhi Center – a one-of-its-kind initiative created with the support of the Government and FLO Ahmedabad. Nestled innovatively beneath a flyover, the Sakhi Center stands as a beacon of hope and opportunity, dedicated to empowering women with the tools, skills, and confidence to carve out their own path to independence.
The vision of the Sakhi Center is simple yet profound: to give women a “home away from home” where they can not only learn and create but also discover the power of self-reliance. It is a space where dreams take shape in the form of skill-building, entrepreneurship, and sisterhood.
A Journey from Learning to Leading
Equipped with divet machines and sewing machines, the Sakhi Center has already set the stage for practical training and creation. But this is just the beginning. From stitching and tailoring to creative projects, the women will not only produce but also market and sell their creations independently, paving the way for true entrepreneurial growth.
Adding a shining feather to the cap, the inauguration also marked the launch of “Jhilmil” – a new clothing brand born from the hands, hearts, and vision of these women. Jhilmil represents more than fabric and fashion; it is a symbol of dignity, courage, and the brilliance of women ready to step into the world with their talent.
More Than a Center – A Movement
The Sakhi Center will host workshops, training sessions, and community events that go beyond skills. It is designed to nurture confidence, financial literacy, and the courage to dream big. It is not merely a center but a movement of empowerment, proving that even spaces under flyovers can shine as epicenters of change when fueled by purpose.
The inauguration was not just an event; it was an emotional celebration – of resilience, of possibilities, and of the collective strength of women supporting women. FLO Ahmedabad, together with BiFLO and dedicated partners, reaffirmed its commitment to walking alongside these women as they begin this transformative journey.
As the first stitches were made on the sewing machines and the first designs for Jhilmil unveiled, it became clear: the Sakhi Center is not just about what women can make with their hands, but what they can create for their futures. This is the beginning of a brighter tomorrow, where independence is stitched into every seam, and every woman walks with her head held high.
Impact
The inauguration witnessed the presence of over 60 enthusiastic women, along with FLO members and YFLO supporters, who came together to celebrate this journey of transformation. The energy in the air was electric, brimming with optimism and excitement as women stepped into a space that belongs entirely to them.
