FLO Northeast STEM Workshop at IIT Guwahati

FLO Northeast conducted a STEM Workshop in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, the Centre for Indian Knowledge Systems (CIKS), and the Pandit Hemchandra Goswami Foundation for the Popularization of Science and Assamese Culture. 

The event participated by 110 students from Delhi Public School, Khanapara, Maria’s Public School, Guwahati, The International School of Bangalore, and Delhi Public School, Guwahati, aimed to spark curiosity and engagement among students in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), provide real-life exposure to laboratory settings and research infrastructure at IIT Guwahati, and honor and educate students on the contributions of Pandit Hemchandra Goswami, a pioneer in Assamese science and literature.

Key Highlights of the event were the introduction to the legacy of Pandit Hemchandra Goswami and the vision of the Foundation, the foundational talk on how mathematics influences critical thinking and problem-solving, Theory & Practical Demonstrations conducted by Dr. Faladrum Sharma of IIT Guwahati, and the guided tour of IIT Guwahati’s labs with a live Q&A to help students engage with real scientific research processes.

Special acknowledgment is extended to Dr. Uday Shanker Dixit, Head of CIKS and Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at IIT Guwahati, for his role in enabling this impactful collaboration. Gratitude is also due to Dr. Faladrum Sharma for his efforts in conducting the academic and demonstration sessions.
