Finance Made Simple: A Financial Literacy Session To Empower Workers

FLO Bangalore, under the leadership of chairperson Dekyi Yangtso Chawla, achieved a significant milestone by signing an MoU in collaboration with the Department of Posts, Government of India (GPO), represented by Chief Postmaster Mr. Manjeesha. This collaboration enabled the successful execution of a two-day financial literacy initiative, held across three interactive sessions for participants from the workforce at Texport Overseas, Peenya.

Through insightful sessions led by Mrs. Sudha Raju and Ms. Preetha Wali, participants gained a practical understanding of savings, investments, and insurance, while India Post representatives Mr. Shivakumar and Mr. Mahesha further enriched the sessions by simplifying and explaining various India Post savings schemes for the capacity building of the workers. As a part of financial literacy and education initiatives, this program focused on empowering women by equipping them with crucial knowledge and skills to become financially independent.

The atmosphere was deeply rewarding, as many women participants expressed genuine motivation to begin their journey toward financial independence, inspired by the accessible and relatable guidance offered. The event was hosted with exceptional support by Ms. Shalini Goenka, FLO Member and owner of Texport Overseas, whose thoughtful hospitality and delicious homemade lunch were warmly appreciated by all.

The MoU signing with the Department of Posts, Government of India, has already strengthened FLO’s financial literacy mission. Also, 1,200 workers (majority women) at Texport Overseas were empowered with actionable knowledge on savings, investments, and insurance.
