Embrace the Shift Within: A Deep Conversation with Mrs. Neerja Birla

FLO Bangalore, under the leadership of Chairperson Ms. Dekyi Yangtso Chawla, hosted an intimate and powerful fireside chat, “Embrace the Shift Within,” featuring Mrs. Neerja Birla as the speaker. Mrs. Neerja is a global mental health leader, champion of women’s wellness, and Founder & Chairperson of the Aditya Birla Education Trust.

In a candid conversation with Ms. Dekyi Yangtso Chawla, Mrs. Birla explored the social, psychological, and emotional impact of menopause and perimenopause—topics often silenced or stigmatised. Drawing parallels to physical fractures, she reminded the audience that mental health struggles are not weaknesses but realities that deserve compassion, care, and open dialogue.

She urged women to embrace self-care without guilt, to share experiences with peers, and to create safe, non-judgemental spaces for dialogue. The conversation further explored shifting family dynamics, professional transitions, and the importance of community and workplace acknowledgement of midlife changes.

Practical insights included the power of therapy, exercise, supportive relationships, and consciously choosing what adds value to life. Rooted in resilience and balance, Mrs. Birla highlighted the importance of aligning tradition with modernity, giving 100% to all endeavours, and leading authentically.

Key Takeaways

Around 165 attendees participated in this session. It left participants deeply moved, empowered, and committed to breaking the silence around women’s health while embracing strength, empathy, and authenticity.
