FLO Jaipur, under the leadership of Chairperson Dr. Rimmi Shekhawat, hosted one of its most inspiring and impactful events, “FLO Saahas: From Scars to Stars,” at Jaipur Marriott Hotel. Guest of honour, Ms. Tahira Kashyap, author, filmmaker & cancer survivor, and chief guest, Smt. Gayatri Rathore, IAS, Principal Secretary, Medical & Health, graced the event with their presence and celebrated courage, resilience, and women’s health with FLO members.
Launch of Jeevan Raksha Vahan
The proud highlight of the day was the launch of Jeevan Raksha Vahan – a first-of-its-kind mobile health initiative in Rajasthan, dedicated to breast and cervical cancer screening.
- The van is equipped with advanced thermal screening technology, which allows for non-invasive, safe, and effective detection of breast cancer at early stages.
- It will operate 365 days a year, making consistent healthcare accessible.
- The first phase begins in Nagaur District, in collaboration with the Government.
- Screenings will be conducted at the CHC and PHC levels, ensuring women in rural areas have access to early detection.
- Women suspected of cancer will be connected to Mahatma Gandhi Hospital for mammography, further tests, and treatment.
Chairperson Dr. Rimmi Shekhawat shared from her heart:
“Awareness and access to healthcare should not be a privilege, but a right for every woman. Today is the beginning of that dream turning into reality.”
A Conversation with Tahira Kashyap
The soul of the event was the heartfelt conversation with Tahira Kashyap. Her honesty, humor, and resilience deeply touched everyone. She opened up about her cancer journey:
- On dealing with cancer: “I didn’t hide it. If I was anxious, I let my children see my anxiety. Because strength is not about pretending – it is about allowing emotions to flow.”
- On choices: “Every moment we have the power to choose… and I choose happiness.”
- On motherhood: “Being open with my kids taught them that life is not about hiding pain, but about facing it together.”
- On success (a question by Past Chairperson Ms. Vinnie Kakkar): “Success for me is sitting here in this moment, listening, being conscious, and being present.”
Stories of Courage – Cancer Survivors on Stage
Adding to the spirit of FLO SAAHAS, the stage was given to FLO members who are cancer survivors themselves. Their stories of strength and healing moved the audience, proving that while cancer leaves scars, those scars can shine as symbols of courage and transformation.
Impact
Over 250 members attended this inspiring session about women’s health. The day was not just about an event – it was about creating a movement of health, hope, and empowerment. The thermal screening-equipped Jeevan Raksha Vahan stands as a milestone for women’s healthcare in Rajasthan, while Tahira Kashyap’s candid journey and survivor stories gave every member a renewed perspective on life.
Indeed, FLO SAAHAS was about turning scars into stars – and every single heart in the hall left stronger, braver, and inspired. This event is a part of FICCI FLO’s efforts towards equipping women with the required knowledge and things to take care of their well-being.
