Objective
The FLO Start-up Cell is created to empower every woman at every level of entrepreneurship- whether at the ideation stage, a growing enterprise, or a scaling business. Its central objective, “Seed to Scale,” reflects FLO’s commitment to nurturing women entrepreneurs through a complete ecosystem of mentoring, incubation, funding access, training, and networking.
By enabling women to move from informal or small-scale enterprises to structured, sustainable businesses, the Cell seeks to:
- Drive economic independence and dignified income generation for women.
- Encourage innovation and creativity through entrepreneurial ventures.
- Build confidence and capability among women by linking them with role models, industry experts, and investors.
- Position FLO as a national platform for women-led start-ups and micro-enterprises.
- Hosting workshops and training sessions for women entrepreneurs, focusing on building capacity, providing mentorship, and facilitating access to funding.
Scope of Work
The Start-up Cell’s work spans across three key dimensions:
Entrepreneurship Enablement
- Identifying women-led business ideas and helping them move from the seed stage to the scale stage.
- Organising incubation programs, mentoring sessions, and workshops tailored to sectoral needs.
- Supporting women in micro-entrepreneurship, helping them transition from informal livelihood activities to structured enterprises.
- The Start-up Cell promotes collaborations with top industry players and government bodies to promote entrepreneurship among women.
Capacity Building & Skilling
- Conducting training sessions on branding, pitching, business management, digital tools, and leadership skills.
- Creating exposure opportunities through industrial visits, founder interactions, and fireside chats with leading entrepreneurs.
- Facilitating certified training programs in collaboration with educational institutions and industry partners.
Market & Investment Linkages
- The cell provides women entrepreneurs with access to capital, including angel investing, for early-stage startups.
- Hosting pitch competitions and Shark Tank-style contests to connect women entrepreneurs with investors, mentors, and seed funding.
- Supporting cooperative models, rural entrepreneurship, and SHG-based enterprises by providing design, skilling, and market linkages.
- Startup cell provides training to women in angel investing. It allows them to become capital allocators in the startup ecosystem, which fosters gender diversity in the investment ecosystem.
- Encouraging innovation-driven start-ups while also nurturing community-driven, and sustainable ventures.
