Project Pavitra Program For Promoting Menstrual Health and Hygiene Among Young Girls

FLO Coimbatore, under the leadership of Chairperson Aparna Sunku, in collaboration with The Art of Living, proudly launched Project Pavitra as part of the FLO initiative, KAVACH, at Nise Academy Matric Hr Sec School. The program focused on promoting menstrual health and hygiene among adolescent girls from rural communities. This health & hygiene initiative is all about empowering young girls with awareness, confidence, and positivity.

As a part of the FLO Kavach initiative, the program focuses on empowering young girls by teaching them about menstrual hygiene and its practices to enhance their physical and mental well-being. Menstruation is still considered a taboo subject in India. Young girls and their parents in rural areas are still uneducated about menstruation and its physical changes. It is crucial to educate girls about proper menstrual hygiene and foster a positive attitude.

Eliminating taboos and implementing good lifestyle changes are necessary to address menstrual health issues among adolescent girls. Project Pavitra has a training module for young girls to prepare them for managing stress due to menstruation. It includes yoga, meditation techniques, and a proper diet plan.

Even experts respond to unanswered questions of attendees through interactive and engaging training methods. In this way, Project Pavitra enhances girls’ knowledge of personal hygiene and raises their confidence. The program aims to reach at least 25 schools by March 2026, creating a ripple of change, one school at a time.
