FLO Saksham Shakti- Navigating the Boardroom: Legal Insights for Women Directors

FLO Jaipur, led by chairperson Dr. Rimmi Shekhawat, hosted a landmark session titled FLO SAKSHAM SHAKTI, focused on legal awareness, boardroom leadership, and empowering women directors.

The event took place at the Constitutional Club, Jaipur, and was designed specifically for women in family-run businesses and other leadership roles, helping them gain clarity and confidence in navigating legal and strategic responsibilities.

Ms. Angira Singhvi Lodha – Partner, Khaitan & Khaitan, joined the event as the speaker. She is a seasoned corporate lawyer and governance expert. Ms. Lodha led a dynamic and high-energy session that was both educational and interactive.

Session Highlights Of FLO Saksham Shakti

The event was super fun, highly interactive, and incredibly informative — a powerful blend of legal literacy and leadership insight for women in business. Ms. Lodha emphasised the importance of understanding the gravity of the roles women directors hold, both in rights and in responsibilities.

Also, recognising the risks of token representation in boardrooms is crucial. Despite legal reforms, women directors in family businesses are often appointed only for compliance. Many are excluded from real decision-making yet held equally accountable.

Women often sign legal and financial documents without awareness of the consequences, leading to liabilities for tax defaults, restructuring, and fraud. Emotional intelligence as an advantage in succession and governance

The legal tools shared during the session include: Section 166 & 463 of the Companies Act: For fiduciary responsibilities and relief when acting in good faith. Then, awareness around signing powers, shareholder rights, loan documents, restructuring consents, and financial liabilities

Right now, only 11 Indian family businesses have women CEOs. Then, 68% report women’s participation in operations, but leadership roles remain limited. Women’s EQ (Emotional Quotient) is now increasingly recognised as a strength in conflict resolution and leadership transitions.

Impact Of FLO Saksham Shakti

Around 50+ women entrepreneurs, directors, and business leaders joined the impactful session. It acted as a wake-up call and an empowering space for women to ask questions, engage in deep dialogue, and walk away more aware and assertive. The lively Q&A and enthusiastic participation reflected the deep relevance of the subject to the attendees’ business and personal lives.

By decoding the legal and emotional intricacies of boardroom responsibilities, FLO Saksham Shakti has set a new benchmark for capacity-building in women leadership.
