The chairpersons of FLO & YFLO Kolkata were honoured to be special invitees at a high-level roundtable discussion organised jointly by UNICEF India and the Government of West Bengal at Taj Bengal, Kolkata. This landmark event for national policy and advocacy, a first-of-its-kind initiative by UNICEF in India, brought together key stakeholders to deliberate on social development and corporate responsibility within the state.
The central agenda of the meeting was the newly established Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Council set up by the state government. It was highlighted that the proposals for the council are transparently available on its official website, and UNICEF is playing a crucial role in facilitating grants to drive impactful projects in West Bengal.
The discussion was led by a distinguished panel of speakers, including:
Dr. Shashi Panja, Hon’ble Minister for Industries, Commerce & Enterprises and Department of Women & Child Development and Social Welfare, Government of West Bengal.
Ms. Sanghamitra Ghosh, the Secretary of State
Mr. Monjur Hussain, The Chief of UNICEF West Bengal
Ms. Cynthia McCaffrey, UNICEF India Representative
The event fostered a unique collaborative environment, bringing together senior representatives from leading corporates and all major chambers of commerce, including the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), The Bengal Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BCC&I), ASSOCHAM, and the Bharat Chamber of Commerce.
The inclusion of FLO & YFLO in this pivotal policy dialogue underscores the significant role of these organisations in the socio-economic landscape of the state. FICCI FLO and YFLO are committed to contributing to the objectives of the CSR Council in partnership with the Government of West Bengal and UNICEF. This corporate round table discussion paved the way for effective CSR investments.
