FLO Chennai, under the leadership of chairperson Ms. Niyati Mehta, organised a visit to the IIT Madras Research Park on 18th July 2025 as part of the FLO Startup Cell initiative. Spearheaded by Priya Goutham, Head of Skilling, and her Startup team, this immersive visit offered an extraordinary opportunity to witness first-hand the cutting-edge innovations being incubated in one of India’s premier research ecosystems.
The group explored the IITM Incubation Cell, which supports a diverse range of startups in AI, robotics, energy, biotech, and space technology. Members interacted with founders and teams addressing real-world challenges through tech-driven solutions, many of which are led by women. The visit to Agnikul Cosmos, the pioneering space startup known for its 3D-printed rocket engine, Agnilet, and its vision of democratizing space access, left everyone deeply inspired.
Another notable stop was the National Centre for Assistive Health Technologies (NCAHT), where members engaged with breakthrough innovations in assistive tech designed to foster inclusivity and accessibility. The centre’s emphasis on eliminating bias and enabling user-centric design left a lasting impression on all attendees.
The visit served as a powerful reminder of the transformative role women can play in shaping the future of technology and innovation. It was a day filled with learning, inspiration, and a renewed sense of purpose to embrace cross-sector collaboration and tech-enabled social impact. This session benefited a total of 47 attendees as they got the opportunity to learn the innovative work being done at IIT Madras Research Park.
