FLO Chennai organized an event participated by The VTC (Vocational Training Centre), a unit of Anjuman-e-Himayath-e-Islam, at WelcomHotel, Cathedral Road. With celebrated designers Ms. Neeta Lulla and Ms. Nishka Lulla as the Chief Guests. The event was joined by 230 members.
VTC’s stall featured a curated collection of garments and accessories handcrafted by women trained through its programs. These products, made using upcycled fabrics, reflected the skills imparted at the center including basic and advanced tailoring, hand and machine embroidery, garment making, and fashion designing. The stall also displayed details of the center’s certified diploma courses: a six-month program in tailoring and embroidery and a one-year TNOU-certified diploma in fashion design.
Attendees engaged with the VTC team purchased products, and learned about the organisation’s ongoing efforts to empower underserved women through vocational training. Members expressed their interest in referring candidates who could benefit from these programs, thereby creating a strong network of support that will extend beyond the event itself.
This visibility led to direct economic support for the trainees through product sales and created opportunities for future enrolments in the training programs. More importantly, the stall helped bridge the gap between vocational training and the mainstream consumer audience.
The event provided VTC with a platform to amplify its impact by increasing awareness & sales and inspiring confidence and recognition for the women behind each stitch and seam.
