Nari On Wheels

YFLO Kolkata, in collaboration with Calcutta Foundation facilitated by SVP India, announced that the chapter is the first partner with Zomato for the program Nari on Wheels—Apni Kutir’s Delivery Partner Training Program, an initiative that helps women enter the gig economy as confident, independent delivery professionals.

“Nari on Wheels” is designed to equip women with the tools, training, and confidence they need to succeed as delivery professionals in an industry traditionally dominated by men. This program is about mobility, independence, and economic empowerment for women from underserved communities.

Over a 2-month intensive training course, 25 – 35 women will be enrolled in a curriculum that combines both practical skills and digital literacy:

2-wheeler training: Hands-on coaching in e-scooter riding to ensure safe and confident travel.

Digital navigation: Mastery of navigation tools and delivery apps for route planning and real-time updates.

Customer interaction: Soft skills training to enhance communication, professionalism, and service quality.

Platform onboarding: Guidance on registration and operations within Zomato’s delivery ecosystem.

Financial literacy: Workshops on using digital payment systems such as UPI, budgeting, and savings.

The program also includes safety training, mentorship sessions, and support in obtaining necessary documentation such as driving licenses and digital IDs.

Post-Training Placement

Upon successful completion, participants will officially join Zomato’s fleet of delivery partners, becoming among the first women in Kolkata to represent a major gig platform as professionally trained delivery associates.

Through this collaboration, the Calcutta Foundation, YFLO Kolkata, and SVP India are proud to champion a future where women are to lead.
