YFLO Ahmedabad, under the dedicated leadership of Chairperson Neha Goyal, initiated a responsible and much-needed campaign, “Dispose Safely, Protect Lives.” This campaign aimed to collect and properly dispose of expired and unused medicines, ensuring they do not end up causing harm to people, animals, or the environment.
What began as a health-conscious awareness effort quickly turned into a meaningful community action, encouraging members to look through their homes, gather expired medicines, and contribute towards safer waste management. The aim is twofold: health & safety: prevent expired medicines from being misused or ingested.
Environmental protection: stop harmful chemicals from seeping into soil and water through improper disposal. By creating awareness on safe disposal, YFLO Ahmedabad is taking a step towards both public health protection and environmental sustainability. The collection process works simply, as members can contact the campaign lead, and a collection team ensures doorstep pickups for convenience.
Even, there are drop-off locations available as announced in the campaign updates.1.5 kg of expired medicines were collected in the very first phase. All collected medicines will be safely disposed of through approved medical waste management channels, preventing accidental consumption or contamination. The campaign received strong participation from members as they welcomed the idea as a vital community responsibility.
While the first phase has been a great success, the campaign will remain ongoing. Each member is encouraged to continue checking their medicine cabinets regularly and contribute to keeping homes, families, and our environment safe. One step. A healthier tomorrow.
