FLO Delegation Meeting in Munich with GIBA and Consulate General of India

The FICCI FLO delegation attended a special session on “Women, Innovation, and Global Growth” jointly hosted by German-Indian Business Association (GIBA) and the Indian Consulate at Mathildensaal, Munich.

Padma Ganesan welcomed the gathering, followed by Nirmal Raman, CEO of GIBA, who highlighted that Indian students form the largest student community in Germany and that FLO’s visit was both timely and strategic. He emphasized FLO’s forthcoming partnership with GIBA.

Mr. Shatrughna Sinha, Consul General of India, underlined Germany’s commitment to infrastructure, India’s search for new markets, and the opportunities emerging from the India-EU FTA. He encouraged FLO to leverage the Make in India initiative, collaborate with German companies, and strengthen ties with the Indian diaspora.

Ms. Poonam Sharma, President of FICCI FLO, spoke about FLO’s work and changing perceptions of Germany, while acknowledging the presence of women entrepreneurs from the sidelines.

Ms. Sowmya Vaidyanathan, Program Director, Women’s Circle – GIBA, outlined GIBA’s work as a think-tank, partnership facilitator, and support system for Indo-German businesses, including its Tamil Nadu Desk and Women’s Circle initiatives.

The event also featured Ms. Alisha Srivastava, Co-Founder of URJA Munich, who shared URJA’s role in empowering women entrepreneurs and creating platforms for cultural and professional exchange.

A key highlight was the signing of an MoU between FICCI FLO and GIBA, marking the beginning of a collaborative framework to strengthen women-led business linkages between India and Germany. The event also included a felicitation ceremony, celebrating the shared vision of advancing women’s entrepreneurship.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Madhumitha Ravikumar and a networking business lunch, providing members an opportunity to explore synergies with the Indian diaspora and German businesses.
