Book Club Launch By FLO Vadodara

FLO Vadodara, under the leadership of Chairperson Ms. Shivani P. Patel, launched its book club to foster a community of readers who can connect, engage, and share insights through literature. This event featured Mr. Shantanu Naidu, an Indian entrepreneur, author, and social impact leader.

The first session of the book club fostered meaningful connections, engagement, and learning among members through literature while promoting networking and women’s empowerment initiatives. The response from members has been overwhelming, demonstrating strong enthusiasm and interest in participating.

The Book Club launch was conducted for both groups at different time slots. The groups were named The Story Seekers and The Page Turners. The first book selected was “I Came Upon a Lighthouse,” and an online recorded interview of author Shantanu Naidu was played during the session, which members greatly enjoyed.

Two parallel groups were formed to accommodate the large number of members, with assignments made randomly to ensure fairness. These groups may come together for larger events when necessary. The primary objective is to encourage meaningful connections through shared reading experiences.

Books are generally chosen via member voting, though occasionally the FLO Team may make the selection. Members are allotted approximately one month to read the book before the discussion session. Discussions are designed to be informal, engaging, and enriching, while structured to ensure deep and meaningful dialogue.

Members are encouraged to take the lead in moderating or hosting discussions with FLO’s support, and creative approaches—such as painting, writing, or crafts—are welcome as long as the focus remains on the book. The first Book Club discussion was a resounding success. Out of a total Book Club strength of 100 members, 42 attended the session, and members were fully engaged throughout the discussion.

The recorded interview with Shantanu Naidu was a particular highlight. Members expressed that they loved this initiative and described it as the best networking event, with feedback and enthusiasm that have set a strong foundation for future sessions. In addition, a Cosmo Foundation product stall was placed at the event, offering items for sale.

Members enthusiastically purchased these products, supporting rural women to generate income and encouraging them into business. This initiative resonated strongly with FICCI FLO’s national mission of women empowerment through skilling, highlighting the organization’s commitment to fostering entrepreneurship and economic independence for women.

FICCI FLO Vadodara aims to create a platform for intellectual engagement, meaningful conversations, community building, and women’s empowerment—one book, one discussion, one connection, and one initiative at a time.
